Five of the reported deaths were residents of Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Braunfels. Their deaths were reported to the office of public health.
Two women in their 80s, one male in his 80s and one female in her 90s died between Aug. 5-15, and their deaths were reported Aug. 26.
One man in his 60s was hospitalized in a New Braunfels hospital, where he died July 31, and his death was reported Aug. 28.
The remaining deaths were a Bulverde woman in her 70s and a New Braunfels man in his 80s, who died in a San Antonio hospital Aug. 3 and July 1, respectively.
Of the newly reported cases, 88 are confirmed and 24 are probable, bringing the county total to 2,969 recorded cases since March 16.
The county’s positivity rate as of Aug. 31 is 14.97%, down from 15.59% on Aug. 24, according to a press release, which also states the rolling seven-day positivity rate is 7.275%.
Comal County also recorded 174 recoveries, bringing the total to 2,437. The county now has 445 active, confirmed and probable cases, 58 of which are hospitalized.
On Aug. 31, it was reported that county hospitals are caring for 11 COVID-19 patients, five of whom are in intensive care beds and three of whom are on ventilators. Not all patients are county residents, and not all county residents are hospitalized within Comal County.
According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Guadalupe County has had a total of 72 coronavirus-related deaths as of Aug. 31, up from 66 as of Aug. 23.
The county reported a total of 41 new cases between Aug. 24-31, for a total of 1,899 since March 16.
