In an effort to conserve water, the city of Leander announced the closure of the Lakewood Park splash pad July 17.

The closing of the splash pad at Lakewood Park is due to water conservation measures and upcoming repairs, according to the city.

Phase 3 water conservation efforts went into effect July 14. Leander will remain in Phase 3 until all of the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority barge pumps, which underwent repair, are in a stable condition.

While in Phase 3 water conservation, Leander residents are limited to outdoor watering through handheld methods only. Irrigation systems are not permitted during this phase.

Due to high temperatures, the pool and splash pad at Robin Bledsoe Park will remain open during regular hours to provide the community with a cooling option. Robin Bledsoe Park is located at 601 S. Bagdad Road, Leander.
