Two-minute impact
- The Downtown Strategic Plan is a comprehensive plan for the downtown area that will explore parking, property inventory, signage, look and feel and recommendations on land use.
- Payment to Halff Associates Inc. will be funded through the city’s Economic Development Corporation budget, City Manager Paul Brandenburg said at the meeting.
- By the end of the year, the plan should be reaching completion.
“It’s been a long time coming to get this done for the downtown [area],” Brandenburg said. “We have several things that have launched already ... things are coming together nicely.”
Director of Economic Development Mary Poche' said the city’s Comprehensive Plan could and should overlap with the Downtown Strategic Plan. Liberty Hill’s Comprehensive Plan aims to look at future growth, land use and parks, and it is anticipated to reach completion by the end of 2023.
However, city staff is looking to hone in on the downtown area.
“The Comprehensive Plan even by virtue of what the word is, it’s a very over-arching Comprehensive Plan,” she said. “We want specificity for the downtown [area].”
