Residents of the city of Lakeway will soon have access to a new donation-based neighborhood library box. The Lakeway Activity Center will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 21 to unveil its Little Free Library at 105 Cross Creek, Lakeway. Little Free Library is a worldwide nonprofit organization that encourages a love of reading by fostering neighborhood book exchanges, according to the Lakeway Activity Center. With assistance from Stokes Sign Co., Lakeway Activity Center staff built the library box using a repurposed ice cream freezer from the city’s swim center.
“We were disheartened to think of it ending up in a landfill. Instead, we looked at this box and saw tremendous possibility and potential ...” said Dallas Gorman, activity center manager, in a press release.
The community is also invited to donate a book at the ribbon-cutting event, which will take place at 2 p.m. 512-261-1010. www.littlefreelibrary.org
