As May 4 approaches, residents in Lake Travis-Westlake will have a number of different positions to consider in this year's local elections, from school board trustees to parks bonds.

City elections


City of Austin


Residents of several neighborhoods across Austin will be able to vote whether or not to stay within Austin's city limits. If the neighborhood votes to disannex, some city fees and public services, such as police, fire and trash pickup, would change.
  • Proposition A
    • Shall the city disannex approximately 738 acres of land commonly known as “Lost Creek,” located in Travis County, thereby removing the area from the full purpose city limits of Austin?

    • Shall the city disannex approximately 212 acres of land commonly known as “River Place Outparcels,” located in northwestern Travis County, thereby removing the area from the full purpose city limits of Austin?

City of Lakeway

There are numerous park and public amenities projects in Lakeway’s upcoming $22 million bond going before residents May 4, seeking to revamp the city’s public parks system and more.

Voters in Lakeway will also choose between four candidates for three at-large City Council seats in the election. Incumbents Kelly Brynteson and Jennifer Szimanski will be running for re-election, while candidates Christopher Levy and Matt Sherman have also filed to run in the May election.

    • The issuance of $22,000,000 in general obligation bonds for park, recreation, and open space improvements, and the levy of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds.

County elections

Travis Central Appraisal District


For the first time, Travis County voters have a say in who should fill three open seats on the Travis Central Appraisal District’s board of directors.

The board is responsible for hiring the chief appraiser, who determines property values in the county. Taxing entities, such as the city of Austin, Travis County and school boards, set tax rates that are applied to those property values. The board also approves the annual budget, approves contracts and sets general policies.

Eanes ISD


Five candidates will be on the ballot for the upcoming Eanes ISD board of trustees election. Running for Place 4 is incumbent James Spradley and Robert Morrow. Running for Place 5 is Kelly Marwill, Aaron Silva and Catherine Walker.
