Why are you running for this position?

I love our Lake Travis community, having lived here with my family since 2010. I believe in the potential of all kids in our community and creating an environment of opportunity in our schools by providing support to our teachers and staff to deliver the best education possible for each student.

What are your major areas of concern for the district?

It is important for LTISD to have a strong plan for the future that provides a safe school environment; retains and recruits the best teachers; maintains clear and consistent policy; and welcomes parent and community involvement.

If elected, what is your No. 1 priority to address?

My top priority is to ensure that our schools remain on course toward the standard of excellence expected by families in our community. Simultaneously, I am committed to ensuring taxpayer dollars are allocated appropriately, supporting responsible growth, and maximizing opportunities for our 11,000-plus students.

What changes would you like to see addressed at the state level regarding public education?

State funding for schools has remained flat while the costs of providing student education has increased. As a state, we have to prioritize education by providing the necessary funding to meet the needs of our students and educators.

Phillip Davis*

Why are you running for this position?

I am seeking re-election to the LTISD school board Place 1 to continue the joyous work of supporting our students, teachers and staff while strengthening our community. My experiences as a board member, faculty member, academic administrator, and business executive provide invaluable insights into the challenges within our community.

What are your major areas of concern for the district?

A major concern I have for the district is our ability to responsibly grow, while ensuring we offer the best educational experience for our students and provide a nurturing culture for our teachers and staff. Achieving this balance is paramount to our community, as we navigate and grow together.

If elected, what is your No. 1 priority to address?

If elected, one key priority is to continue to build and expand upon our relationship with our community. Reconnecting via trust and transparency will go a long way to achieving this feat. We must find creative ways to interact more effectively and engage in more two-way dialogue.

What changes would you like to see addressed at the state level regarding public education?

The way public schools are funded at the state level must change. I would encourage our legislators to find ways to build automatic adjustments into school funding based on changes in economic conditions. Delivering a high-quality educational experience is difficult to do without adequate funding.
