Popular downtown barbecue restaurant and live music venue
Stubb's Bar-B-Q is getting a new name following a lawsuit settlement.
After 18 months of negotiations with the One World Foods, who makes
Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q sauces, the venue, located at 801 Red River St., has agreed to stop using the Stubb's name and remove its trademarks on products. The restaurant and music venue has not revealed a new name yet.
"While terms of the agreement are confidential, it is important to note this was a mutual resolution that allows the restaurant and venue to live on and allow the Stubb’s brand of products to expand and grow," said Jennifer Barr, One World Foods/Stubb’s products' business director, in a news release today.
Moving forward, One World Foods—which was purchased by McCormick and Co. in 2015—will be the sole owner of the Stubb's brand name and brand.
Barr said the One World Foods company is looking at restaurant opportunities in Austin.
"The brand’s heritage is tied to the city and the company’s headquarters will continue in Austin," she wrote in the release.
