The Texas Department of Transportation will close lanes heading northbound on I-35 and the Williams Drive bridge July 6, beginning at 9 p.m.

TxDOT is closing the northbound I-35 lanes from Hwy. 29 to Northwest Boulevard in order to set bridge beams overnight as work continues on the department’s diverging diamond interchange project. Traffic headed north on I-35 will be rerouted to the frontage road at exit 262 and rejoin the main lanes beyond Northwest Boulevard.

The bridge will also be closed during the beam setting. Traffic headed eastbound will detour to the southbound I-35 frontage road and use the U-turn at Hwy. 29 to access Williams Drive. Traffic headed west will take the northbound I-35 frontage road and turn left at the intersection at Lakeway Drive to reach Williams Drive.

All lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by July 7 at 5 a.m. The diverging diamond project is expected to be completed by late 2023, weather permitting.
