Williamson County residents are able to donate to about 90 local nonprofits through the second annual Amplify WilCo Day.

Hosted by the nonprofit I Live Here I Give Here, which works to connect donors and volunteers with causes they are passionate about, the day of giving runs from 6 p.m. March 5 through 6 p.m. March 6.

The specifics

Williamson County Commissioners Court adopted a proclamation ahead of Amplify WilCo Day during its Feb. 25 meeting, which called on residents to “embrace the spirit of giving.”

Last year, donors raised about $1 million for 72 participating nonprofits. This year, the number of Williamson County-serving organizations residents can give to increased to about 90.

“I think that shows ... how incredible the giving is in Williamson County; it also shows the need,” said Piper Stege-Nelson, I Live Here I Give Here executive director, during the meeting. “I think there’s a lot of uncertainty with nonprofits right now around the world but particularly in Central Texas.”

Throughout the year, Stege-Nelson said I Live Here I Give Here works to find funds to match the gifts given during Amplify Wilco Day.

The Williamson County-specific event is a complementary campaign to the organization’s Amplify Austin Day.

What else?

The 24 hours of online giving will kick off with an in-person educational and fundraising event on the Georgetown square.

From 5-8 p.m. on March 5, community members can visit 15 downtown Georgetown businesses, each of which partnered with a different local nonprofit. Attendees will pick up a card and map, and after learning about each nonprofit, will receive a stamp on their card, which enters them for a chance to win door prizes donated from local businesses.
