Schunk Xycarb Technology Inc., a production facility that manufactures components used in semiconductor wafer processing, received a $3.9 million Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant, according to a June 18 state news release.

The TSIF grant will help Xycarb expand its Georgetown facility, which will create 25 new jobs and invest $42 million in capital, according to the release.
Xycarb manufactures and refurbishes silicon carbide-coated graphite, quartz, ceramic and silicon parts. The expansion will double Xycarb’s processing facility square footage, allowing it to increase production space and add further automation abilities.

Some context
The TSIF is a grant program established through Texas’ Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors Act. Abbott signed the CHIPS Act into law in 2023, creating a funding mechanism to further semiconductor research, design and manufacturing, the release states.
