As the weather gets warmer and water usage increases, Georgetown residents can expect to see an increase in their water bills due to new water rates set into effect Jan.1, according to a May 5 news release.

For the average water customer using 10,200 gallons per month, the monthly water bill will increase to $46.25 from $40.98, the release said.

Customers using 7,000 gallons or less per month will see an increase of $0.10 per thousand gallons, it said.

These are the rates that went into effect Jan. 1:

  • 0-7,000 gallons: $1.85 per 1,000 gallons

  • 7,001-15,000 gallons: $2.75 per 1,000 gallons

  • 15,001-25,000: $4.80 per 1,000 gallons

The city adopted these rates in October after a cost-of-service rate study, the release said.
