Despite entering Stage 1 of the drought plan July 14, Georgetown has hit 90% water plant capacity two days in a row this week.

"If we stay above 90% plant capacity [for three consecutive days], then we go into Stage 2 of the drought plan," Communications Manager Keith Hutchinson said.

Stage 2 limits watering to one day per week.

In order to avoid entering into Stage 2, the city recommends people
adjust their irrigation controllers down by 10%.

"They can use the seasonal adjust setting on their controller to reduce their zone run times to 90%," Hutchinson said.

Officials also said residents should make sure they are only watering on their scheduled days based on address, not watering from noon-7 p.m. and never watering on Mondays.
