The overview
GISD selected Pfluger Architects and Langan Engineering to design and engineer the renovations planned for the high school's PAC and field house, per district documents.
The two contracts were approved by consent in a Feb. 17 meeting, and the board of trustees did not discuss the contracts individually before voting unanimously to approve them.
The details
Contracts approved include a $1.98 million fee to Pfluger Architects, as a percentage of construction costs, as well as a not-to-exceed amount of $337,500 to be paid to Langan Engineering.
Constructing the PAC will expand auditorium seating to somewhere between 800 and 850 seats, according to the contracts approved. Currently, it seats about 370.
The locker and weight rooms, the existing facilities will be expanded to improve their functionality.
How we got here
In May 2024, voters approved the use of $649 million in bonds for improvements to district facilities. Included in the $27.85 million Proposition C is construction of a performing arts center at EVHS. Proposition D designated $3.85 million for the renovation and expansion of the weight and locker rooms at EVHS.
