With Georgetown ISD campuses closing for the holiday break Dec. 19-Jan. 3, the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department will host a variety of day camps for students to attend while out of school.

Participants can select from four camps this year, according to a press release. Camp Goodwater will be held at the Georgetown Recreation Center on Dec. 19-23, Dec. 26-30 and Jan. 2-3 for children ages 5-12. To participate, children much be attending kindergarten. From 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., the program will include outdoor activities, gym games, and seasonal arts and crafts, among other activities. Daily fees are $40 for Georgetown residents and $50 for nonresidents.

The Junior Tennis Academy will take place at the Georgetown Tennis Center on Dec. 26-30 from 9-11 a.m. for ages 7-10 and 1-3 p.m. for ages 11-15. For daily fees of $20 for Georgetown residents and $25 for nonresidents, participants will work on the fundamentals of stroke production, conditioning, movement, footwork, tactics and strategy.

Children ages 7-15 may attend Volleyball Camp on Dec. 19-20 from 9 a.m.-noon at the recreation center. The camp will feature activities and lessons for both beginners and advanced players, including the rules of play, defensive strategy and how to play various positions. The fees are $55 for locals and $75 for nonresidents.

Lastly, the department will host Basketball Camp on Dec. 27-29 from 9 a.m.-noon for children ages 6-16. At the recreation center, kids will get the chance to improve ball handling, shooting, footwork, defensive techniques and more. Fees are $100 for Georgetown residents and $125 for nonresidents.
