The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved Nov. 14 a guaranteed maximum price for the construction of elementary school No. 11 as well as a slate of building repairs and renovations.

Stemming from the $381 million bond package passed in 2021, the new elementary school will be built by American Constructors, which provided the district with a GMP contract of $49.3 million. Jimmy Jones, director of construction, said the district was able to identify cost savings for the project.

The board approved the cost—$5.3 million—for the Ford Elementary School and Forbes Middle School HVAC Replacement Project. All of the HVAC equipment on the two campuses will be replaced with new control systems, which will allow the district to save money by lowering the schools’ energy consumption, according to the meeting’s agenda item. The projects are scheduled for completion during summer 2023.

A partial roof replacement at Georgetown High School was approved. The project, which will cost $3.6 million, includes the addition of roof ladders to allow GISD maintenance staff to access equipment.

New temporary classrooms will also go in at Wolf Ranch Elementary, as the district is expecting the campus enrollment to increase by approximately 200 students for the 2022-23 school year. The not-to-exceed cost for the project is $405,955.
