Nearly a month after approving the purchase of 79 acres to build new schools, Georgetown ISD has announced where almost a quarter of that land will be located.

The 17.7 acres referred to as being in the southwest quadrant of the district is located in Wolf Ranch, GISD spokesperson Suzanne Marchman said, and will be the site of a future elementary school. The Wolf Ranch community broke ground in late 2015.

GISD has yet to reveal the location of the two remaining sections of land, 38.5 acres in the northwest district boundaries and 22.8 acres in the southeast.

Georgetown ISD will purchase nearly 80 acres of land throughout the district’s boundaries for new schools, but the exact locations are still unknown to the public.

At its Monday meeting the GISD board of trustees voted unanimously to purchase 79 acres, split up into three tracts of land. The district will acquire 38.5 acres in northwest section of the district boundaries, 22.8 acres in the southeast and 17.7 acres in the southwest. The land in the southeast and southwest will both be sites of future GISD elementary schools. The district has not disclosed the location of the specific sites.

“There may be a lot of questions about where these locations are, but we’ll get that information out as soon as we get all the legal paperwork taken care of,” Superintendent Fred Brent said.

The land acquisitions were authorized in the 2015 bond, district staff said, and will be purchased using those funds.
