In 2024, voters approved a $649.5 million bond to fund several projects around Georgetown ISD. The bond was split into four propositions, ranging from $3.9 million for athletics to $597.5 million school, safety and capital improvements. Here’s a progress report on these projects.
Jessie Daniel Ames Elementary School
Project: The new elementary school—located near Patriot Way and SH 130—is expected to accommodate up to 850 students.
Update: Construction on the school is complete. The district is working to wrap up minor branding and finishing touches on the campus. Students will begin classes at the new building in fall 2027 due to budget constraints.
Timeline: May 2025-summer 2026
S.C. Marshall Middle School
Project: The new middle school—built just east of Ames Elementary School—is expected to accommodate up to 950 students.
Update: The school is nearing completion as builders are currently installing final details, such as handrails and accessibility features. Similar to Ames, this campus will also open in fall 2027.
Timeline: May 2025-summer 2026
East View Performing Arts Center additions
Project: The district is investing in East View High School's fine art spaces, including expanding auditorium seating from 370 to at least 800, according to previous Community Impact reporting. The project will also add an orchestra pit, dressing rooms and a theater stage workshop.
Update: Construction on the 32,000-square-foot center began in June and is set to be completed May 2028.
Timeline: Early 2025-May 2028

East View High School field house addition
Project: Due to increasing student population, GISD is expanding the locker room and weight room spaces.
Update: The addition will be completed in April, while interior renovations will be completed in July.
Timeline: January 2025-July 2027
Georgetown High School Klett Performing Arts Center renovation
Project: The district is performing maintenance and upgrades to the auditorium.
Update: The interior of the center was painted this summer.
Timeline: November 2024-summer 2026
High School No. 4
Project: GISD is constructing a new high school campus off DB Wood Road with a capacity of 2,200 students.
Update: The campus is still under construction and is expected to be completed in May 2028. Following the completion of construction, students are expected to begin classes in fall 2028.
Timeline: fall 2025-May 2028
Georgetown High School theater
Project: This small Georgetown High School theater will be converted into a black box theater.
Update: The project is in its preliminary stages.
Timeline: GISD was unable to provide a timeline due to unanticipated complications with the project.
