City Council could finalize an agreement In October with Emergency Services District No. 8 for the construction and operation of Fire Station No. 6 at the northwest corner of Williams Drive and Four T Ranch Road.
ESD No. 8 covers a large portion of the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction and contracts fire services with the Georgetown Fire Department, Fire Chief John Sullivan said. The new station could help decrease response times in western Georgetown.
Sullivan presented the agreement to the council Aug. 23.
According to the agreement, the ESD, which has already purchased the property, would construct the station, and the city would assume the operational and some furniture costs and staff the facility, Sullivan said.
If approved, construction on the station could begin in September 2017.
