Fruity Mas opened May 8 at 1911 N. Austin Ave., Ste 102, Georgetown.

Owned by sisters Sheira and Valeria Argote, the fruteria offers horchatas, paletas, fruit-filled pastries, fresas con crema, and other desserts and beverages. Shiera said the sisters wanted to put a modern twist on traditional Mexican treats and snacks.

“A lot of people mistake us for a fruit shop, but it’s not,” she said. “We basically sell a lot of traditional Mexican snacks, but what sets us apart is we’re from a younger generation, and we wanted to play around with the recipes. It’s a lot of sugar and sweets, and everything is fresh.”
