Brass House, a Jazz and blues bar on San Jacinto Boulevard, is shutting its doors.

In a Facebook post yesterday, owner Jason White said the closure was due to the "rising tide of the downtown Austin rental market, lack of free parking and unforeseen circumstances."

Brass House will be open Friday and Saturday for two more weekends and then close the weekend of Oct. 15.

White came up with the Brass House concept while in combat with the US Marine Corps. He opened in February 2013 with business partner Gene Todorov, who also served in Afghanistan with White.

White told Community Impact Newspaper in October 2013 the blues and jazz bar was growing, and business was steady.

“[Brass House] just creates an environment for people to come in and relax and hang out,” White said. “We wanted to be clean and more upscale in our image but not in our attitude. We’re more of a mom and pop-style [business] in our attitude.”
