The Dog & Duck Pub Construction continues at The Dog & Duck Pub as the team tries to prepare for a late August opening.[/caption] After 24 years on Guadalupe Street, The Dog & Duck Pub closed Oct. 31 with plans to relocate and reopen in a new East Austin building by late August. The new location at 2400 Webberville Road, Ste. A, will still offer patrons indoor and outdoor seating along with 40 on-tap beers but with a revamped menu, co-owner Susan Forrester said. Traditional British fare will make up the menu upon reopening, she said. Bringing those elements back should help veteran patrons recognize The Dog & Duck Pub, she said. Most of the old staff will also return when the pub reopens, Forrester said. Repairs were started to mount on the previous building, resulting in increasing renovation costs, according to ownership. That building has since been torn down to make the location more appealing for potential redevelopment, Forrester said.

Other Impacts:

NOW OPEN—The former location of 219 West has transformed into new restaurant called Slate. New management took over the location in April and slowly transitioned the space at 612 W. Sixth St. into a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant before officially opening under the new name June 25. The restaurant has a full-service bar, indoor and outdoor seating as well as a rooftop bar and night club area. Grilled flatbread pizzas are sold during lunch and dinner, and brunch is offered during the weekends. 512-474-2194. COMING SOON—Heavy May rains have delayed the opening of South Congress Hotel by one month. The new boutique hotel at 1603 S. Congress Ave. was taking August reservations in preparation of opening; however, is now scheduled to open Sept. 1 because of construction delays associated with the consistent rainfall. South Congress Hotel will have 71 rooms and 12 suites as well as various retail shops, restaurants and Paul Qui's latest Austin dining concept Otoko. 512-920-6405. CLOSINGS—After 20 years as a downtown music venue Austin Music Hall will be demolished in early 2016 to make way for a 28-story office tower. Cielo Property Group will maintain ownership of the Austin Music Hall brand and is currently searching for a smaller, higher quality music venue to open under the name, according to a news release. The new office development at 208 Nueces St. is slated for completion by the end of 2017 with 349,000 square feet of space and ground-floor retail and restaurant options, which have not yet been announced. 512-377-1120.
