Ronald Cheng, owner of
Chinatown restaurants throughout the Austin area, is working on a new concept that is likely to serve Asian street food.
The new restaurant, which has not yet been named, will be located below the Chinatown location at 3407 Greystone Drive and possibly open in early 2016. Cheng will travel to Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Singapore to find inspiration for the concept's menu and atmosphere.
Chinatown has three locations in Austin where lunch and dinner options are available as well as sushi and drinks. The North and Westlake locations also offer a Dim Sum menu.
Musashino Sushi Dokoro currently occupies the space where Cheng's new concept is slated to go. Musashino later this year will move into the space at 2905 San Gabriel St., which until April 19 was occupied by Fino Restaurant & Patio Bar.
