Construction is nearly complete on JW Marriott Austin, a 1,112-room hotel along downtown Congress Avenue between second and third streets.

Since breaking ground on the project in October 2012, hundreds of construction crew members have been working on the 34-story, 1.2 million-square-foot structure, which is slated for completion Feb. 13. The hotel has already confirmed contracts for 435,000 nightly room reservations through 2021, General Manager Scott Blalock said.

The project also adds three restaurant concepts to downtown Austin as well as a new Starbucks. In addition, there is more than 110,000 square feet of convention and meeting space.

"This opens us up to whole new group of conventions for us we didn't have before," Blalock said.

JW Marriott Austin will hire more than 700 full timers to help operate the hotel, and many of those jobs are yet to be filled, Blalock said. A job fair will be held this weekend, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13, at the Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St, to help fill the remaining vacancies, a hotel spokeswoman confirmed.
