April 30 to May 4 to be Air Quality Awareness Week in Williamson County
Commissioners Court declared April 30 to May 4 as Air Quality Awareness Week in Williamson County to encourage residents and employees to educate themselves about air quality and to promote air quality and its awareness within the community.

While air quality is improving in Central Texas, regional air pollution levels were considered moderate or worse on more than 30 percent of days in 2017, according to the national Air Quality Index. Children, older adults, people with lung disease and people with heart disease make up about two out of every five residents of Central Texas, and are particularly affected adversely by poor air quality, according to Williamson County.

Williamson County is a member of the Central Texas Clean Air Coalition of the Capital Area Council of Governments. The Commissioners Court said they want to support public awareness about the quality of local and regional air to reduce pollution exposure and toxic emissions.
