A city of Kyle crew is working to repair a water main break near the intersection of North Burleson Street and the new Marketplace Avenue extension north of downtown Kyle. The construction crew building the new road hit a water main that then ruptured and caused a leak, according to a city of Kyle news release. “Our crew is shutting down valves and has the leak under control,” Public Works Director Harper Wilder said in the news release issued at 4 p.m. on Dec. 4. “Over the next few hours they will repair the water main.” Disruptions in water utility service may occur as the line is being repaired, and the city recommends that residents conserve water in the hours following the incident. Although the city's system is not believed to be damaged as a result of the water main break, the city has issued a boil water notice as a precautionary measure, the news release states. The leak affected a McDonald's on Kyle Center Drive. No other businesses were affected because they are not connected to the water line. The boil-water notice will remain in effect until officials make certain no harmful bacteria are present in the water.
