Incumbent Jim Powell was re-elected to Lakeway City Council on May 9 with 514 votes, or 24.87 percent of the votes. Ronald Massa and Bridge Bertram joined Powell at their first council meeting May 18. Massa garnered 452 votes, or 21.87 percent, and Bertram garnered 433 votes, or 20.95 percent, to be the next highest vote-getters.
Powell was voted mayor pro tem by the council at meeting.
As the top vote-getter, Powell wins the three-year term, and Massa and Bertram will serve two-year terms as the city switches to staggered terms over the next two elections.
Former Council Member Joe Bain ran unopposed for mayor.
“The first thing we are going to work hard on is to have access to the new Oaks [at Lakeway] via Lohmans Crossing,” Bain said of the commercial center in development.
He said the city is slated for a number of “exciting” new projects in the next few years and will be working to manage its growth.
Bruce Harris and Phil Brown had 340 votes and 328 votes, respectively.
