Editor's note: this story has been updated to clarify the construction timeline and the function of a pocket green.

A project to address safety and mobility issues at the intersection of Burnet Road and Koenig Lane is set to kick off.

The 12- to 14-month project will start in May and could lead to intermittent vehicular lane and sidewalk closures. The project will be completed through the Austin Corridor Program and include new shared-use paths, signal improvements and a new pocket green—a parklike area of the public-right-away—near White Rock Drive at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Construction may take place between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekdays and on occasional weekends, according to a press release. No traffic detours are expected.
