Editor's note: Bank of America updated the number of meals the donation will provide.

Bank of America announced in a Feb. 9 press release that it donated $40,000 to Central Texas Food Bank to combat food insecurity in Austin.

The money was raised through an incentive program encouraging bank employees to receive COVID-19 booster shots.

For every employee in Austin who received a booster shot, notified the company before the end of January and made a contribution to hunger-relief organizations across the country, Bank of America donated $100, according to the release.

Every $1 donated allows Central Texas Food Bank to provide four meals to the community. Bank of America’s donation will help provide 160,000 meals to Central Texans experiencing food insecurity, according to the release.
