The Colorado Street corridor is set for new road closures starting Sunday, Jan. 29, according to a city of Austin news release.

The $5.7 million project to reconstruct Colorado from Seventh to 10th streets has been underway since November 2015. The latest phase begins work on the west side of Colorado from Eighth to 10th streets as well as the intersection of Ninth and Colorado streets.

That will cause the following lane closures:

  • Colorado Street will be reduced to one southbound lane from Eighth to 10th streets.

  • Ninth Street will be reduced to two eastbound lanes from Lavaca to Colorado streets.

  • 10th will be reduced to one westbound lane from Congress Avenue to Colorado.

Work on the project—which has entailed installation of a new storm drain and water and wastewater lines, wider sidewalks, and curb and gutter fixes as well as street reconstruction—is expected to be completed in June.

The phase of work just south of Eighth is expected to be completed in early February.
