He began his own delivery business before merging with Josh Jones to operate Dine on Demand. The duo believes delivery timing is critical, Barber said.
“The second that food is coming out of the window in the kitchen, you want to be packing it in a hot bag for hot food and a cold bag for cold food and go directly to the customer,” Barber said.
Partnering with restaurants is important so Dine on Demand can communicate with customers about wait times, Barber said. The business matches customers with restaurants in ZIP codes immediately surrounding them to provide satisfactory delivery time, Barber said.
“That made it better for our drivers, and customers were happier [because] they weren’t having to wait as long on orders,” Barber said.

“Our goal is really to offer our customers as much variety as possible,” Kim said.
Eat Out In has increased its staff by 48 percent and increased its driver pool by 22 percent.
“We’re kind of the unknown giant in the area,” Jackson said.
Customers can track orders using a tracking system, and a mobile app will launch by the end of this year, Kim said.

Ryan Browne was at a party in 2010 when the alcohol supply ran dry and no one could responsibly drive to pick up more. That night spurred Browne into researching state and local law on alcohol and alcohol delivery, ultimately leading to the launch last March of the TopShelf mobile ordering app.

“We’re connecting multiple liquor stores to multiple users, so we’re creating this marketplace,” Browne said. “We’re opening a whole new world [for stores] when it comes to delivery, so that’s how we’re adding value to liquor stores.”
Customers can order beer, wine and liquor through TopShelf as well as other party needs such as Solo cups, ice and ping pong balls. Delivery drivers will not leave an order with someone who is visibly intoxicated or unable to provide a valid identity card.
“We’re trying to get rid of the proverbial beer run,” he said.
An online ordering platform will soon debut as well as a cocktail package option.
