4 new choices for Austin steak lovers

Carve American Grille is opening a second location in Austin at the The Grove mixed-use community. The new location is set to open toward the end of 2022 at 2613 Perseverance Drive, Austin. The steakhouse, which is opened by Perry’s Restaurants, also has a location at 415 Southwest Parkway, Austin. The menu includes items such as long-bone chicken-friend pork chops and wagyu meatloaf cupcakes. www.carveamericangrille.com

Dean's Italian Steakhouse will open in the JW Marriott Austin this summer. The restaurant, which will be located at 110 E. Second St. Austin, incorporates a classic American steakhouse with Italian inspiration. The menu will include prime cuts of beef and housemade pasta, such as USDA Prime 28-day dry-aged steaks, American wagyu, short rib gnocchi and truffle bucatini. 512-608-4490. www.deanssteakhouseaustin.com


San Antonio-based J-Prime Steak house will open an Austin location in the spring. The restaurant’s menu will include steaks aged 45 days or more and fresh seafood. The restaurant will be located at 301 Brazos St., Ste. 150, Austin. www.jprimesteakhouse.com

The team behind Southern restaurant Olamaie and hospitality group New Waterloo opened Maie Day, a new steak restaurant, at 1603 S. Congress Ave., on May 1. Maie Day will offer several steak dishes—porterhouses, ribeyes, chicken-fried steaks and butcher’s steaks—along with seafood, salads and desserts. The restaurant will also feature several cocktails with nonalcoholic options available. Maie Day’s operating hours will be 3-10 p.m. with brunch service planned for the future. It will be located inside the South Congress Hotel and will take over the space housing the hotel’s New American restaurant, Central Standard.
