Cultivate, an Austin-based service to help people grow food at their homes, began operations in June. Brothers Nathan and Luke Heath combined to begin the company. Nathan Heath is a farmer who has spent a decade growing produce at Phoenix Farms for restaurants in Central Texas, while Luke Heath brings 20 years of experience building software for businesses. After consulting with Cultivate on the food and environment where crops will be grown, customers can order the tools and materials they need from the company.
“Our present food system needs more small farmers, in addition to the large farmers," Luke Health said in a media release. "Cultivate helps by sharing our expertise with those who have an interest in growing fresh vegetables and utilizing technology to monitor the growth of the produce so they may harvest fresh food straight from their yards.” www.cultivatetex.com
