May 5: Enjoy specials at La Popular

Newly opened Mexican restaurant La Popular will celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 5. Specials will be available, including $10 margaritas, $5 Coronas and $5 al pastor tacos served on corn tortillas made in-house. La Popular opened in Lantana Place on April 24, and it is overseen by Executive Chef César de la Parra and Vice President of Beverage Operations Trevor Tyler.

Cheer Up Charlie’s will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a drag show celebration hosted by Eva Inez with performances by Veronica Valentine, Bohemia, Banshee Rose, Basura, Pam Dulce, Harlót and Dee Gee Rey. Music will be provided by Salem Ofax.May 6: Attend a nacho-themed fiesta

Fiesta Austin will host its annual Cinco de Mayo party on May 6 in East Austin. The party will include vendors; live music; children’s activities; and food, including a fiesta nacho bar. The theme this year is “Nacho Average Fiesta.”
