IDEA Public Schools signed a partnership agreement with Western Governors University to provide students, staff and alumni the opportunity to pursue multiple paths to higher education and professional development, according to a news release.

The context

IDEA Public Schools is a system of charter schools with the goal of getting students to college. So far, the schools have had a 100% success rate. Western Governors University is an online university specializing in low-cost education and flexible degree plans.

The overview

The partnership agreement creates a new scholarship opportunity for IDEA students, staff and alumni. They are now eligible to receive a $2,500 scholarship from WGU to pursue higher education opportunities.


“IDEA Public Schools is excited about this new collaboration with WGU. This partnership extends our mission of providing excellent opportunities for students and alumni,” IDEA Chief College Officer Phillip Garsza said in the release.

WGU will collaborate with IDEA to develop online workshops and information sessions, provide access to career service and alumni events, and provide engagement and educational opportunities through WGU, the news release said.
