As a result of the 2020 census findings, Austin ISD, along with other elected bodies, will undergo redistricting over the next few months.
Austin ISD's board of trustees is reviewing firms that could help during the process. Trustees plan to vote on which to work with at an unspecified future meeting, Trustee Lynn Boswell said at an Oct. 14 information session.
The school district is broken into seven districts, each of which is represented by an elected trustee who serves on the board of trustees. Two trustees are at large, meaning they represent the entire school district.
Based on new census results, at the same time that the state redraws districts for congressional and house seats, the school district’s subsections will also be redrawn.
