Ezov

A new Mediterranean restaurant with Israeli influences called Ezov will open in East Austin on April 27. The restaurant has a “fun, lighthearted vibe” with a 98-seat dining room and a 30-seat private dining area.

What’s on the menu?

Ezov’s menu has shareable, seasonal items, including smashed cucumber with labne and Nigella seed; a seasonal crudo with pistachio, orange blossom and pomegranate; and halloumi with date molasses and dukkah, a nut, seed and spice blend.

Gràcia

Gràcia, a new full-service Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar, opened in the Rosedale neighborhood in Austin in early April. The restaurant comes from Cameron Lockley, the owner of Gusto Italian Kitchen + Wine Bar, and Executive Chef Jason Tallent, who most recently led Italian restaurant Cipollina.

What’s on the menu?

Gràcia has a seafood-forward menu featuring gnocchi paired with a seafood bolognese, roasted baby eggplant seasoned with Aleppo chili oil and shrimp wrapped in serrano ham. The beverage program features craft cocktails and over 60 selections of wine.

Holiday

A “bright, feminine” cocktail bar and restaurant called Holiday opened in the Govalle neighborhood in late March. The concept is led by John DiCicco, Erin Ashford and Executive Chef Peter Klein, who met while working at the Southern restaurant Olamaie.

What’s on the menu?


Holiday’s menu features steamed mussels, chicken liver mousse, pork schnitzel and other seasonally inspired dishes. The restaurant also serves handcrafted cocktails called “fancies” as well as beer, wine, and a few nonalcoholic options.

Cafe at the Loren

The Loren at Lady Bird Lake hotel opened a new cafe April 10.


What’s on the menu?

Cafe at the Loren serves coffee, cocktails and wine to drink and sandwiches, salads and flatbreads to eat. The all-day cafe also offers croissants and pastries from local bakery Sour Duck.

Rosé Gosé


A new comfort food and wine restaurant called Rosé Gosé opened in North Central Austin on March 1.

What’s on the menu?

Rosé Gosé serves over 250 wines, 30 craft beers and 10 house cocktails. The menu includes a raw bar, poke bowls, mussels, a burger and other items. The restaurant also serves a breakfast menu with pancakes, eggs Benedict and more over the weekend.

Rosé Gosé is located at 5201 Airport Blvd., Austin, in the former ATX Grill space.

JewBoy Sliders

JewBoy Sliders opened a second location at Austin’s downtown food hall Fareground on April 24.

What’s on the menu?

The eatery serves beef, Reuben, French dip and falafel sliders for hot sandwiches and a club, smoked chicken salad, smoked turkey breast and tuna for cold ones. Mini latkes, fries, border-style queso and a Caesar salad are also available.

Uptown Sports Club

New Orleans-inspired restaurant Uptown Sports Club opened in a historic building on East 6th Street on March 27. The new bar and restaurant—led by Aaron Franklin of Franklin’s Barbecue and James Moody—is walk-in only, and guests can seat themselves.

What’s on the menu?

Uptown serves po’boys, gumbo, wedge salads, handcrafted cocktails and local beers.

Veracruz Fonda & Bar

Veracruz Fonda & Bar, a new brick-and-mortar concept from Reyna and Maritza Vazquez, the local family behind the Veracruz All Natural, opened April 8.

What’s on the menu?

The new concept includes a lunch and dinner menu with dishes such as mole enchiladas, pork tamales and tres leches cake. The restaurant also serves breakfast and features a drink menu with custom cocktails such as the Muellerita and the Veracruz Colada.

Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster

Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster opened a new brick-and-mortar restaurant on North Lamar Boulevard on March 1. The restaurant—led by Heidi and Samantha Garbo and chef Yessenia Maldonado—has indoor and outdoor seating as well as a walk-up window for placing to-go orders.

What’s on the menu?

Garbo’s serves New England fare with a Texas twist, including lobster rolls, fried fish rolls, lobster grilled cheese, and several small plates, including smoked mahi dip, crab cakes and a shrimp cocktail.

Bento Teppanyaki

Ye Ling, the owner of Xian Sushi and Noodle, opened a second restaurant called Bento Teppanyaki Asian Cuisine on March 1.

What’s on the menu?

Bento Teppanyaki offers upscale Chinese dishes, such as Moo Gu Gai Pan, Hunan beef and orange chicken, made fresh to order. Customers can order a bento box—a combo with different dishes—or standalone items.
