El-Ghayesh moved to the United States from Egypt to learn to make Texas barbecue.
Since then, El-Ghayesh has been working in the barbecue industry, including at several well-known Austin spots, such as Valentina's, and Salt & Time, and he said he has fallen in love with Texas. He also began doing pop-up events and catering through his brand KG BBQ.
El-Ghayesh specializes in Texas barbecue fused with Egyptian flavors. He said over the years he has been slowly adding more Egyptian influence into his dishes, while at the same time refining how best to bring the two cuisines together.
KG BBQ will open this summer at 3108 Manor Road, Austin.
