A 770-foot tower could add to Austin’s downtown skyline after developer Ryan Companies, bank BBVA and architectural firm Page announced plans Dec. 19 for a 60-floor multiuse project located at 311 and 321 W. Sixth St.

The tower would be located at the corner of West Sixth Street and Guadalupe Street and would include 60 floors with a mix of office space, residential units and parking, according to a media release from Ryan Companies.

The building would include 363 residential units on levels 20-60 and 120,000 square feet of office space on levels 12-17. The remaining levels would be dedicated to parking, retail and amenities. BBVA currently has a branch located at the site and in the new building plans to continue operations in a 4,000-square-foot space, according to the release.

If the plans are approved, the tower could become the second-tallest in Austin. Another 837-foot mixed-use project at 400 W. Sixth St.—on the same corner of West Sixth and Guadalupe—cleared city approval in 2018, with plans for 66 floors of office, retail, residential and parking.
