1. Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo is leaving the city to work as Houston's Police Chief. Brian Manley, APD's chief of staff, has been
named interim chief until a permanent chief is hired. The city will also undergo a search for a permanent city manager in the coming months.
2. The city of Austin offices will be closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Austin Public Libraries close at 3 p.m. Wednesday and will re-open Saturday. If your trash and recycling collection day falls on Thursday, it will be picked up Friday.
3. CodeNEXT, the city's plan overhaul for rewriting the land development code, was
given a new timeline last week. If all goes according to the timeline, the public will have a tangible first draft of the code by Jan. 30, and City Council will adopt the final version of the code in April 2018. CodeNEXT has been in the works for three years since the city announced its strategic plan for the future of the city, Imagine Austin.

4. Capital Metro has
postponed approval of its new bus routes to January after receiving input from the community. The agency embarked on an update to its service plan called Connections 2025 a year ago to propose changes aimed at providing more frequency and connections between routes. The draft plan was unveiled Aug. 22.
