A Nashville, Tennessee-based junk removal company called Junkdrop is expanding its services to Austin and helping local families in need furnish their homes in the process.

The company, owned by Nashville native Walter Hindman, removes unwanted furniture, appliances and other household items from its client’s homes, and then works with local nonprofits to deliver the items to people in need free of charge.

“We are different in that we pay to store every reusable item we come across. Whether it's a vacuum, sofa, TV, nightstand or mattress, we store it in our shipping containers on our property,” Hindman said in an email. “We then go back to storage [to] pick up the items and not only deliver, but set up all of the items inside of their home.”

The company has furnished over 300 Nashville homes since they opened three years ago, Hindman said.
