Apanas Coffee & Beer opened its second location on South Congress Avenue on Friday, Sept. 2.

Owner Aamil Sarfani, who opened the first Apanas at the Domain in February under the name Two Hands Coffee, will run the South Congress location as general manager.

The new space, located at 1007 S. Congress Ave., Ste. B11, Austin, has 20 taps of beer—five or six of which are from local breweries—and serves simple coffee beverages such as lattes, cappuccinos, drip coffee and pour-over coffee.

Apanas’ coffee beans come from two farms in Nicaragua, and the coffee shop is named after Apanas Lake in the Central American country.

Chris Clevenger, the Domain location’s general manager, said he, Sarfani and all the Apanas employees take pride in the coffee, and Apanas uses a business model where 40 percent of the cost of a pound of coffee goes to the coffee farmers.

“We choose to be here and be part of not only the South Congress community but also the coffee community,” he said.
