Representatives described the over 11,000-square-foot nightclub as a “neon oasis,” replete with live Latin music every weekend, DJ sets, dancing, bottle service and VIP table reservations.
Mala Fama serves as the sister concept to the group’s other nightclub venues, Mala Vida—which is located a few blocks away—and Mala Santa, which is located in Southeast Austin.
“Every weekend at Mala Vida we have a line around the door, and we need a nearby space to serve our customers to make sure they have the best night out they can,” co-owner and head designer Gabriela Bucio said in a news release. “We are proud of the diverse crowds that stop by every weekend and we hope this Mala Fama will allow us to reach more fans, while showcasing what makes our Latin culture so special. Get ready because even more openings are on the way.”
Mala Fama marks the eighth concept for Gabriela’s Group, behind its Mexican restaurant Gabriela’s, seafood spot Searinas, pink-painted coffee shop Revival, Taquero Mucho, Churro Co., Mala Vida and Mala Santa.
Mala Fama is open Thursdays-Sundays from 9 p.m.-2 a.m.
