Local blood bank We Are Blood is taking donations to honor the Uvalde community, following a school shooting that left 21 dead, including 19 children, and others injured.

We Are Blood is hosting a blood drive May 26 at the Texas Capitol and taking donations at its three Austin-area locations.

“We Are Blood joins all of Central Texas in expressing our deepest sympathy to the Uvalde community in the aftermath of this devastating tragedy. Through the generosity of our blood donor family, we stand ready to lend aid and honor those victims at our Capitol blood drive,” said Nick Canedo, We Are Blood’s vice president of community engagement, in a press release.

The mobile drive at the Capitol will be at 1220 Colorado St. on May 26 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will be walk-in only.
