The Austin Community College board of trustees approved a one-year contract extension for President Richard Rhodes on Nov. 4, making Rhodes the longest serving president in the college’s 46-year history.
According to ACC’s website, Richard Fonté served as president from 1997-2004 and Daniel Angel served from 1985-1992. Rhodes was appointed in 2011 as president, and his employment will run through Aug. 31 2022 after this extension.
Trustees also approved raising Rhodes’ salary to approximately $360,000. He received a 3% raise to match salary increases for all ACC employees and another 2% raise as a result of a recent market study.
“The goal of the college continues to be student-focused,” board chair Gigi Edwards-Bryant said. “Under Dr. Rhodes’ leadership, ACC has made extraordinary gains to improve student success and close equity gaps.”
