"I'm extremely thrilled for the support I got from the Cedar Park community. I feel like the universe gave me a calling. I stepped up to follow it and the whole community supported me, and I'm really very grateful for that," Shweta Padmanabha said. "This is the first time ever in the history of Williamson County and Central Texas ... that an Indian American woman has been elected to office. I know it's a small step in the whole scheme of things but it's a big step for our community."

Unofficial vote tallies show the winners in the May 2 Cedar Park City Council elections with 100% of precincts reporting.
- Incumbent Jim Penniman-Morin defeated challenger Dean Doscher in the race for mayor, 68% to 32%.
- Challenger Darron Jurajda defeated incumbent Mel Kirkland in the race for City Council Place 2, 53% to 47%.
- Michael Endres defeated Kevin O'Bryan in the race for City Council Place 4, 58% to 42%.
- Shweta Padmanabha defeated Randy Strader in the race for City Council Place 6, 56% to 44%.

Early voting results are in for the four City Council positions on the May 2 ballot in Cedar Park.

Early results show:
- Incumbent Jim Penniman-Morin is leading challenger Dean Doscher in the race for mayor, 69% to 31%.
- Challenger Darron Jurajda is leading incumbent Mel Kirkland in the race for City Council Place 2, 52% to 48%.
- Michael Endres is leading Kevin O'Bryan in the race for City Council Place 4, 58% to 42%.
- Shweta Padmanabha is leading Randy Strader in the race for City Council Place 6, 56% to 44%.
