Owner Bonnie Palmer opened Bonfire Yoga Studio to bring neighbors together in the wellness space. Though the studio offers primarily heated options, there is something for everyone on the schedule, she said.

Meet the owner
Palmer began practicing yoga 13 years ago. Instead of the warm, community-centric studio she describes today, Palmer started her yoga journey at home. After following along to videos on YouTube, Palmer ventured out to her first in-person heated yoga class in Atlanta, Georgia.
“It just changed everything for me,” Palmer said. “It was such an incredible experience.”
Years later, Palmer started thinking about creating a community-centric space at her own yoga studio. She also wanted closer access to a more challenging yoga practice.
“I was finding that I was driving into downtown Austin at least every other day to go get what I was looking for in [a] yoga practice,” Palmer said. “I thought, if it's not out here, we should build it.”
Bonfire Yoga Studio, a 2,000-square-foot space, officially opened in August 2025 after a four-month build-out.

What they offer
The yoga studio has 18 teachers who offer a variety of classes with heated options daily, except for Thursdays, which feature non-heated classes. The most common class at Bonfire Yoga Studio is the Bonfire Flow, which is a 60-minute traditional vinyasa flow starting at 90 degrees.
“It's all focused on giving yourself time to take care of yourself in a space that allows you to just completely bliss out,” Palmer said.
Bonfire also has hot mat pilates, which combines classic mat pilates training with strength-based sculpting, according to the business’ website. The studio also has hot power yoga, hot sculpt and flow, unheated candlelight yin, unheated kundalini and unheated vinyasa flow.
The teachers on staff are trained to work with people at all different skill levels at the same time, Palmer said. Each class also offers modifications for poses and instructions on how to use provided props.
“We want to welcome people … who maybe haven't practiced before to come in and give it a try and see that anybody can do it,” Palmer said. “You could be a practitioner for 14 years or it could be your very first day and you're going to [fit] in perfectly to any one of our classes.”

Respecting the craft
Palmer received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification this summer at Black Swan Yoga in Austin. The summer intensive included 10-hour days for a month—an experience Palmer describes as “life-changing.”
There are many differences between being a student and being a teacher, she explains. During a class, there is much to think about beyond practicing yoga, Palmer said. She also spends time creating an intentional space, including music, lighting and aroma. The practice also allows other students to show up and encourage each other.
“Even the small detail of making your breath audible is something that is encouraging the person next to you,” Palmer said. “You're creating this momentum with each other within the practice that [is] just the coolest thing.”
In their own words
Since opening 14 months ago, Bonfire Yoga has seen an “immense outpouring of support,” Palmer explained.
“There's so much love in this community,” Palmer said. “I want to thank everyone who's ever shown up or brought a friend or even told someone about [Bonfire Yoga.] To those who have not yet had an opportunity, take a look at our schedule because we do have a lot of variety there.”
