The Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center will construct two outdoor play spaces following approval from Commissioners Court May 21.

In a nutshell

The children’s advocacy center will install a playground structure and a rubber play surface, encompassing an 875-square-foot area on the east side of the building.

On the west side of the building, improvements include a sport-coated surface with markings for activities like basketball and hopscotch as well as outdoor music therapy instruments.

The context

Located at 1811 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, the center has served as a centralized hub for agencies specializing in child abuse and neglect cases since 2007.

In 2023, WCCAC underwent a series of renovations to aesthetically improve the center, according to previous reporting by Community Impact, as well as a 15,000-square-foot-expansion.

Renovations include separate doors of various colors to welcome in different sectors of the community, tree motifs, soothing colors and natural light throughout the building.

One more thing

WCCAC obtained funding for the project prior to the request for approval. The center’s expansion was funded through a $15.5 million comprehensive capital campaign.
