Ascension Seton Medical Center, located at 1201 W. 38th St., will open renovated operating rooms this fall. The $55 million project will expand the size of 26 hospital operating rooms. Twelve of those rooms will include high-definition imaging for robotic surgeries and laparoscopic surgeries—or minimally invasive surgeries using several small incisions, specialized instruments and a camera called a laparoscope. According to Ascension Seton, it will be the only hospital in Austin to use this high-definition imaging. Additionally, the operating room renovations will include four new cardiac rooms as well as a new endovascular suite.
