Mesquite Creek Outfitters opened today, Nov. 15 on the Square.
The outdoor clothing store features men’s and women’s high-end outdoor apparel as well as a craft beer and wine bar.
Co-owners Cody Hirt and Brad Strittmatter said they want the family-oriented business to serve as a community gathering point.
“We wanted to do something more in touch with the community,” Strittmatter said, adding that the two saw a need on the Square for a business with more options for men.
The shop features a community table as well as seating areas for customers to sample the rotating, locally made craft beers and wines. Hirt said they plan to develop a menu of small plates, such as meat and cheese trays, and panini sandwiches.
“We want this to be a place to come before or after dinner,” Hirt said.
Hirt said the business also plans to support several nonprofit organizations, including
Veterans Outdoors, which Hirt co-founded and provides hunting, fishing and outdoor-related activities for wounded veterans. Most of the taxidermy featured in the store’s décor came from the nonprofit’s participants, he said.
