Residents of Tahitian Village and Pine Forest will have the chance to drop off unwanted bulk household items at the Clean Sweep event on July 20.

What you need to know

Benefiting the Bastrop County Animal Shelter, Clean Sweep allows for the drop-off of items that regular trash pickup will not accept, such as:

  • Mattresses
  • Appliances
  • Brush
  • Lawnmowers
  • Barbecue grills
  • Exercise equipment
  • Tires (with a $4-per-tire disposal fee)
  • Furniture
  • Metal
  • Windows and doors
  • Dried paint cans
  • Refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers are also accepted; however, they must have freon drained and be tagged by a licensed technician

Items that Clean Sweep will not accept include:

  • Motor oil
  • Wet paint
  • Car parts
  • Batteries
  • Live ammunition
  • Televisions
  • Monitors
  • Computers
  • Freon/coolant

The details

The drive-thru event will happen from 8 a.m.-noon at the Bastrop County Water Control Improvement District No. 2 office at 112 Corporate Drive, where local volunteers will help unload items for disposal.

Officials with the Tahitian Village Property Owners Association Board said participants should enter through Park Lane and exit through Corporate Drive.



The event is free for residents and homeowners in Tahitian Village or Pine Forest. During the event, donations such as pet food, cat litter, blankets and towels will be collected for the Bastrop County Animal Shelter.

In a newsletter, officials said volunteers are always needed for the quarterly Clean Sweep events.


"Nothing we are doing is too difficult, and you don't have to be Hercules or anything," officials said. "If you could share some time and your smiling face, that would be wonderful. We promise to show you our appreciation with some yummy breakfast goodies."
